Forests

There are few forests in the world. This is probably because of pollution or humans cutting down the many trees that make up a forest. Below are the types of these forests around the world.

Orangutan
Diet: Fruit, leaves, bark, insects
Appearance: Orange, orange-brown, brown
Length: 7 feet
Weight: 60-250
Habitat: Lives in the rainforests of Borneo and Indonesia.
Enemies: Humans
Life Span: 30-45 years



Moose
Diet: Lilies, barks of aspen, maple, willow, birch
Appearance: Dark brown, tan, blackish fur
Weight: 360 kg
Length: 7.9-10 feet
Habitat: Canada, Alaska, Russia, Scandinavia
Enemies: Wolves, bears, humans
Life Span: 15-25 years

The antlers of the moose are covered in "velvet". It's sort of like a furry substance.


American Bison
Diet: Grasses and sedges
Appearance: Dark brown coat in winter and light brown coat in summer
Weight: 318-1,000 kg 
Length: 6.6-11.5 feet
Habitat: North American grasslands
Enemies: Wolves, grizzly bears
Life Span: 15 years

American bison are the same thing as American buffalo.



Red Fox 
Diet: Rodents, game birds, reptiles
Appearance: Red, amber, or grey fur
Weight: 2.2-14 kg

Length: 18-35 inches
Habitat: Asia, North America, Australia
Enemies: Wolves, coyotes, jackals, humans
Life Span: 2-6 years



Raccoon
Diet: Plants, berries, fish, bird eggs, amphibians
Appearance: Grey fur, black stripes and mask, white underfur and belly
Weight: 3.5-9 kg
Length: 16-28 inches

Habitat: North American forests
Enemies: Owls, pumas, wolves, foxes
Life Span: 1.8-3.1 years


Elk
Diet: Grass, plants, leaves, bark
Appearance: Dark brown or tan fur, wet black noses, antlers (when male), white tails
Weight: 500-730 pounds
Length: 6.9 feet-8.0 feet
Habitat: North America, Asia
Enemies: Wolves, humans, bears

Life Span: An average 15 years
The elk is also called a wapiti. 


Gray Squirrel
Diet: Seeds, pine nuts, acorns
Appearance: Gray, red, black
Weight: 14-35 ounces
Length: 18-24 icnhes
Habitat: Western and Eastern United States
Enemies: Bobcats, eagles, hawks, cougars, coyotes, humans
Life Span: 18 months

Gray squirrels burrow holes like prairie dogs
