Savannah

A savannah is a grassland scattered with shurbs and isolated trees. These savannahs include many creatures other than elephants, mambas, and other African animals. The savannahs are warm year round as expected.



 Lion
Diet: Buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, impalas, antelopes, warthogs, deer, and wild boar
Appearance: Tan, brown, red, white
Weight: 264-550 pounds
Length: 4 feet and 7 inches-8 feet and 2 inches
Habitat: Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, Canada: Lions live in prides of 10-20 lions
Enemies: Humans, elephants, buffalo, hyenas
Life Span: 10-20 years
Lions are the second largest living cat in the world. It is also the only cat in the world with a mane.



Thomson's Gazelle
Diet: Leaves and short grass
Appearance: Light brown coats with black strips on sides; white underbelly

Weight: 33-55 pounds
Length: 31-47 inches
Habitat: Africa
Enemies: Crocodiles, pythons, baboons, eagles, jackals, leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetahs
Life Span: 10-15 years

This gazelle can run up to 50 miles per hour.



Okapi
Diet: Leaves, ferns, buds, grasses, fruits, fungi
Appearance: Brown and black upper body, huge ears, and zebra-striped legs
Weight: 440-770 pounds
Length: 6.2-8.2 feet
Habitat: Central Africa
Enemies: Leopards
Life Span: Over 30 years
Although this strange animal looks related to the zebra (because of its legs' patterns), it is more related to the giraffe. Okapi tongues are amazingly long, which can reach up to clean their eyelids and ears.
   

African Elephant
Diet: Grass, fruit, roots, treek bark, branches, leaves
Appearance: Grey, wrinkly skin, white tusks
Length: 16.4-24.6 feet
Weight: 14, 762-13, 330 pounds
Habitat: Eastern, Southern, or West Africa
Enemies: Lions, humans
Life Span: 40-60 years
African Elephants spray mud on themselves to keep cool.
